It is Super Bowl week. We all are preparing for the big game. We look forward to the food, the gathering with friends, the commercials. Oh yeah, and the game.
This year, the game will feature a future Hall of Fame quarterback. Each year, the NFL also introduces the newest members of the Hall of Fame. These players are known for their athletic feats on the field.
We as Christians have a Hall of Fame as well. Hebrews chapter 11 lists superstars of God. These Hall of Famers were not enshrined for their athletic ability but as verses 33-34 state, they were men and women "who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight."
Yes, it was through the strength of their faith that they became Hall of Famers. As we marvel at the feats on the gridiron this week, just know that you may not be able to match the Hall of Fame ability of those players, but by displaying a strong faith in Jesus Christ, you will someday be in a heavenly Hall of Fame. On Sunday, one team will win and one team will lose, but with a strong faith in God, victory for us guaranteed and we all can be Hall of Famers!
